it's so hard saying goodbye

As Haven and I walk down to my grandma's house we think about how fast time flies, how fast life can slip right through your fingers, and how fast Dakota's life was. As I heard my parents talking about my grandma putting her dog down, a sudden alarm went off in my head. So this is it? Dakota's going to be gone, tomorrow? Will I get to see him before he's gone? So many different thoughts went through my head at that time, but one that is most important is, How is Haven going to react to this?
Dakota was a grey and white Husky, and lived with my Grandma for 15 years. He was a hard dog to deal with, he tore up everything, and always seemed to be getting into trouble. Yesterday he was put to sleep because he was getting old, he woke my grandma up at least 5 times a night to go to the bathroom, and he growled at people.
But, we all loved Dakota so much, and he became a huge part of the family. Especially Haven's. Haven grew up with Dakota, she even lived with him for some of her life. He used to be her best friend when no one was around. It was especially hard for her to say goodbye.
[these dead flowers remind me of dakota, how he used to be this young dog, and very playful and fun, now he's in his old age, and is now no longer with us.]
But, then as I looked into Dakota's eyes one last time, a rock hit my heart. I started to get sad, and really mad that we had to put him down. Haven and I went back into the house at least 4 times, because it is so hard to say goodbye.
Dakota is now gone, and is past suffering. It is better for him that way. But, we will always love him.

*I'm sorry I'm using old pictures, it's just that my camera is acting up, and is not working. I'm so mad. Like I tried to take pictures outside, and maybe the heat did it. But, the pictures are all fogged up and stuff. So mad. //just tried to use my camera, and it works again. haha*

love,
Ali

  3. Beautiful post, girly! <3 I lost my dear rabbit, Lily, in this past April. She was pretty old for a bunny and had gotten sick, but it was still hard to say good-bye! I am sure though that Dakota (and Lily!) are up in Heaven right now. :)

    Blessings,

    xoxo Miss ALK
